Pet's need Dental Care too!
Most pet owners think their dog's or cat's bad
breath is a fact of life. Many times, though, the
unpleasant odor is due to dirty teeth. By the age of
3 years, an amazing 70% of dogs and cats have
some form of dental disease. Periodic scaling and
polishing of the teeth can delay or better yet,
prevent serious conditions that result in pain and
tooth loss.  Sometimes, problems seen above the
gum line are just the tip of the iceberg. Tooth
decay, tooth fractures, pulp disease and bone loss
are just some of the conditions that can be hidden
beneath the gums and within the bones of the jaw.
Just like in human dentistry, dental x-rays are an
important and valuable tool for diagnosis and
treatment planning. We are excited to be one of
the few clinics in Anchorage to offer digital dental
x-rays to our patients.
WHAT ABOUT OLDER PETS?

Dogs and cats age much faster
than humans. Most people know
this,  but sometimes don't realize
just how much faster. A 12 month
span can be equal to 5-10% of a
dog or cat's lifetime. Older pets
are prone to heart, liver and
kidney disease along with
arthritis and many other problems
that come with aging.  A  geriatric
check up for your older pet
could help detect these problems
at an early stage so that your
pets' golden years are spent
healthy and pain-free.
PRESCRIPTION DIET?
Some pets have certain health problems that require a
special diet (just like we do!).
Alaska Veterinary Clinic has a
wide variety of  high quality name brand RX diet foods for
pets.
