Dr. Sarah Schmidt grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, living in a small, municipal zoo, which her father managed. During her childhood, she developed a passion for helping animals, and in 2010 she graduated with her bachelor's in Biology. She finished veterinary school at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 2014, and went to work in the Chicagoland area doing small animal and exotic animal medicine, where she met her husband, James. After eloping in Key West, FL., Sarah and James moved to the Pacific Northwest, spending some time in Oregon and Washington before continuing north to Alaska. Dr. Schmidt is passionate about surgery, dentistry and internal medicine, while focusing on treating each pet as though they were her own. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, skiing, kayaking, crafting, and spending time with James and their dog, Ellie.
